Zi Wei Dou Shu Software

Zi Wei Dou Shu and Four Pillars are the two most important schools of Chinese Astrology. It is a tedious task to plot the star chart and mistakes are unavoidable. A computer software solves this problem.

To interpret a star chart requires an in-depth understanding of the properties of the stars individually and when they combine in space and time. It also requires special technique to relate time, space, people and event. The accuracy of the reading depends on the astrologer's life experience, his inspiration, and his insight. Therefore, a computer software can never replace a good astrologer.

There are 144 basic star charts for the 14 major stars. Once the star chart is plotted, you can refer to that specific chart for a brief guideline of reading the structure. The printed manual accompanying this software serves this purpose. It is to be studied rather than used. See sample page.

One question always arises and that is, "How many stars are there in Zi Wei Dou Shu?"

The great Chen Xi Yi indicated clearly in his book: The number of stars is fixed at 36, to be distributed in 12 Palaces.

Another version of the book says 63 instead of 36. In my opinion 36 stars already form a tremendously complicated system when time and interaction are involved. All other stars have their origin in Four Pillars, Five Star Astrology and some other minor schools of Astrology. They were merely added by astrologers who came generations after Zi Wei Dou Shu was *discovered*.

The names of the stars are in English, Chinese Pin Yin and Vietnamese. Choose the language you feel comfortable with by just a click.

Once the name and birth data of a person are entered, these information can be saved. To update a year review chart, you do not have to re-enter the data. Though I do not recommend a daily review chart, this software does have that feature built in. The method for determining the monthly life palace is somewhat different from conventional methods after a lot of research work is done to confirm the accuracy.

This software and manual cannot replace a thorough course on the subject. There are finer details that can only be taught in class. The first course was given in October in Toronto, Canada.
